A Sentiment That's Almost True

Lex makes a lot of music with his son Liam these days — they're Liam & Lex. But sometimes he writes stuff that's less for kids and more for adults.

This album, the followup to The Internet's Out includes songs Lex wrote back in college and songs he wrote in 2024.

Lex welcomes comparisons to They Might Be Giants, Ben Folds, and Barenaked Ladies. They are his goals.

1. Ready Or Not
This started as a podcast theme song, and then became a totally different song. Features Liam on synth horns.


2. William Howard Taft
I wrote a shorter version of this song (complete with a video!) about 20 years ago. This version is better. Watch the new video.


3. Another Magician
This song is based on a true story, where I wanted to do a magic trick while out with friends — but the table included another magician.


4. In Store
One of the first songs I ever wrote. And it switches between 3/4 and 4/4, which I had to learn how to do in Logic.


5. Google Maps
I strongly considered calling this "Lost Without You." But didn't. I do truly love GPS.


6. I'm Never Alone
An a cappella track about how someone's always there.


7. Tension Headache Christmas
I may not celebrate Christmas, but I know from headaches.


8. My Podcast
An ad encouraging you to listen to my podcast. Oh, also, I've kidnapped you. Features Liam on synth.


9. I'm Gonna Call Her
True story: I wrote this song in college after being inspired by a scene in a VH1 Beach Boys documentary.


10. I Don't Know
Probably the weirdest song on the album lyrically. I don't know.


11. 73
The last song written for the album. About the speed I ride at in a 65 zone.


12. What The Hell
A song from the perspective of the devil.
